The three-day event brings local government peers from across the Commonwealth to Cardiff to share experiences around meeting current challenges to promote local economic development. In particular the LGA will lead a workshop on Thursday 17 March to specifically look at Commonwealth innovations that could be transferred to the current UK context, including shared management & procurement structures, initiatives to boost local jobs, arms length boards to manage service delivery, using ICT to transform services and new ways of raising money such as green taxes and municipal bonds. This workshop will be followed by an online question and answer session with Commonwealth colleagues to enable this learning to be shared more widely across the UK and the Commonwealth. Visit the conference website to find out more about the discussions and outputs.
