DFID's new business plan includes local democracy target PDF Print E-mail

The UK Department for International Development has released its business four-year plan. The plan covers six priority areas, including a commitment to 'support the development of local democratic institutions' .

  1. Honouring International commitments
  2. Information transparency in Aid
  3. Boosting wealth creation
  4. Strengthening governance in fragile states, especially Afghanistan and Pakistan
  5. Lead international action to improves the lives or girls and women
  6. Combat Climate Change

Within priority 1 on International commitments, DFID specifies a commitment to "Use the aid budget to support the development of local democratic institutions, civil society groups, the media and enterprise". The Local Government Association is currently in conversation with DFID about how we can support this and other targets in the plan.
