UNDP Global Environment Facility (GEF) small grants programme
- type of grants: support activities in biodiversity conservation, abatement of climate change , protection of international waters, prevention of land degradation and elimination of persistent organic pollutants ;
- financing terms: maximum US$50,000, averages around US$20,000 ;
- application / eligibility: Community-based organisations (CBOs) and NGOs are eligible. Contact the SGP National Coordinator (in the local UNDP office or in the host NGO) to receive application guidelines and form. Site and intervention have to correspond to GEF operational programmes.

Urban management
Cities Alliance
- type of grants : improving the living conditions of the urban poor through two main programmes :”City-wide and nation-wide slum upgrading” and “City development strategies”;
- financing terms : maximum US$500,000 - funding applications of more than US$250,000 require additional approval processes ;
- application / eligibility : the project must take place in a country that is included on the OECD Development Assistance Committee’s List of Aid Recipients.

Economic development
IFAD Financing Facility for Remittances
- type of grants: multi-donor facility financing innovative remittances system and investment channels for migrants for development of rural areas in developing countries ;
- financing terms: up to $250.000 for a two year project ;
- application / eligibility: local authorities are eligible as long as associated to private sector. Call for proposals on different specific areas.

2009 global competition is now over. Municipal agencies working with non-profit organisations were eligible.
- type of grants: competitive grant programme funding innovative development projects
- financing terms: up to $200.000 for a two year project
- application / eligibility: submission of a short proposal.
